Vehicle Description 1926 Chrysler Model 58 Sedan Movie Car This is going to be a lengthy story.
This outstanding 1926 Chrysler model 58 was used in the 1974 movie The Great Gatsby.
We have tons of correspondence from when this 1926 Chrysler was purchased New & All the History / Owners & Interesting facts that followed.
I would be typing for a straight month sharing all the diary information.

Here we go!! This 1926 Chrysler Model 58 Sedan was sold new at Moss & Mullen Chrysler in Canton Massachusetts.
It was purchased new by four sisters also from Canton Massachusetts.
Known to the locals as the White Sisters.
.
Helen, Mary, Ella & Edith All 4 resided in a farmhouse with their father on White Sisters Way in Canton Massachusetts.
.
Only one sister learned to drive & actually obtained a valid drivers licence, That was Helen.
We have the very first original registration for this 1926 Chrysler dated 5/20/1926.
.
The White sisters never really went beyond the surrounding towns in their 26 Chrysler, So mileage has always been very low.
.
We have a very extensive diary of all the history pertaining to this remarkable piece of automobile history.
There are some notes in the diary we have that speak to the very low miles.
Facts of the 4 White Sisters:
None of the White sisters ever got married.
As they were called Old Hens Ella White was the oldest, she worked in Washington DC at the war department.
Mary White was a School teacher in Norwood Massachusetts.
Edith White worked at a printing Company in Norwood Massachusetts.
Helen White worked as a secretary local to their farm.
The White Sisters were well known at town meetings in Canton Mass & All were members of the First Parish Unitarian Church in Canton Mass.
Townspeople always remember them arriving in their 1926 Chrysler.
In an article dated 5/10/1997 the sisters were described as:
Ella Looked like she stepped from a Band Box Mary Always the Lady Edith The Mistress of the house Helen The Chauffeur Ella lived to 101 years old, She passed away in 1982.
Helen passed away in 1976.
Mary passed away in 1981.
Edith passed away in 1973.

We found an article in the Ledger & Times of Kentucky.
Dated May 25 1959.
Helen white was still driving her 26 Chrysler, Bragging about the mileage her 26 Chrysler gets.

An award from Wheels in Motion to miss Helen White dated 10/25/1953.
After 37 years of ownership, In 1963 The white sisters decided to donate their beloved Chrysler to The Antique Auto Museum in Brookline Massachusetts.
The museum displayed this Chrysler for the next 9 years.
On May 20 1972 this Chrysler went to auction.
Mr.
Calvin Dewey of Cranston Ri was the successful bidder.

We have the auction pictures.
Calvin Dewey of Cranston Ri was the 2nd registered owner, We have a 1974 registration in his name.
Mr Dewey kept an in-depth diary of everything he did or thought about doing to this Chrysler.
We have a letter from Calvin Dewey in 1982 to Chrysler Corporation suspecting he may possess the oldest 4 Cyl in the country, A letter then followed from Chrysler saying they are not exactly sure.

Mr Dewey did extensive research outlined in his automotive diary dedicated to this special automobile.
We have pictures with Mary & Ella White from 1973, inside & outside of the car they loved for all those years.

In 1973 Paramount Pictures Commissioned this 26 Chrysler for the filming of The Great Gatsby.
.
The remake was filmed in Newport Rhode Island at the Rosecliff Mansion.
This Chrysler was used for 5 days during filming infamous automotive related scenes.
We have initial letters from Paramount Pictures dated 5/8/1973.
Letter saying the car was received at Paramount on 6/30/1973.
We have payment vouchers for 5 days on set.
Also a letter of thanks from Paramount dated 7/11/73.
The 3rd owner was Scott Dorsi of Sudbury Massachusetts, He purchased This historic Chrysler in 2009.
He immediately commissioned a Concourse, In-depth Exterior Restoration performed by Libby's Classic Car restoration in Shrewsbury Massachusetts.
Completed in 2014.
We have a folder with every receipt for services performed.
The grand total was $93,854.

The White Sister's have long passed away, But their 1926 Chrysler lives in Grandor.
The exterior fit & finish is Show Quality.

From the Wheels & Tires to the Killer 2 tone paint & All the way to the properly covered roof.

Bright Opera lamps & Stunning headlights, Exterior fuel gauge, Rear mounted spare tire w/ cover, Running boards w/ step.
The interior remains highly original to this day.

Only the carpet has been changed.
Beautiful wood steering wheel, Interior lighting, Rear shade, Crank up / down windshield, Rear grab rail & Foot rest.
Vacuum wiper, Single rear tail lamp.
The 4 cylinder engine & engine bay of this 26 Chrysler is just Awesome.

The undercarriage is Amazing I hope I covered all the history of this thing of beauty.

The story is vast, covering 97 years.

All the Paperwork, The Diary, Pictures & Correspondence from historians are simply amazing.

I truly hope this 26 Chrysler ends up in a Museum or Collection for others to see.
